Presenter information

Pinners presenters are the best of the best! You are special for a number of reasons, not the least of which is your willingness to share your time and talents with others. We have put this page together as a spot you can come for answers to the most commomly asked presenter questions.

What should I teach?

Whatever the heck you want! You're the star. Give us your idea. ◡̈ We are also happy to tell you what's been most popular in the past if you'd like input.

Do I have to have a booth to teach?

At Pinners, presenters who sell products are expected to have a booth. This ensures attendees have a place to connect with you and explore your offerings, so we can keep our classes non-promotional.

How many does my classroom hold?

Each classroom is a different size, so look up your room’s capacity on our online map. You’ll see a number listed inside each room that shows how many seats that room has. A “t” after the number means it’s a table classroom. The sewing room usually includes around 24 sewing machines on tables.

Can I find out how many signed up for my class?

Classes are usually full or nearly full, and most attendees purchase the kit when it’s available. Keep in mind that numbers can change a lot in the last couple of weeks. If you want to check your current sign-ups, feel free to email us about a week or two before the show.

Why does it say at the end of my class description "Optional materials fee..."

Offering kits in class is a fun way to enhance the experience and earn a little profit. However, our policy is that anyone who would like to just come and observe the class is welcome to, though most attendees do still purchase your kit.

What do the classrooms look like?

Here are a couple of examples of how a classroom might be set up

What kind of hook-ups are available for my computer?

You will use your own computer for presentations, but we'll have all of the hook-up cords (Mac video adapters, HDMI, USB video cables, iPad and iPhone video adapters, sound cables from computer, etc.). If you've found your media device of choice has a very uncommon connector, please bring it to make sure. But we hopefully have you covered.

What kind of microphones are available?

We have headset and handheld microphones. Most rooms are set up for only these two microphones, but ask about special requests.

What's supplied in the kitchen?

The kitchen is a full working kitchen and includes a stovetop, an oven, a microwave and power outlets. There is also a basic dishwashing station behind stage.

How can I make money while teaching my class?

Sell supply kits in your class and charge a materials fee—you keep all the profits.

How do I sell supplies or materials at my class?

We encourage you to sell your own materials or other items in your class. As stated above, if there is any profit (and we hope there is) it all goes to you. You’ll need to have your own staff collect payments and distribute kits, as Pinners staff cannot assist with money handling.

Am I able to ship my supplies?

You can ship in a couple ways... You may ship yourself with the carrier of your choice. You'll just have to figure out if someone is going to be there to receive it. Some facilities will hold it for you. The other main option is to ship it to our decorator/supplier (see this year's Exhibitor Kit) and they will bring it for you. Please pre-check pricing as shipping and handling from suppliers can be expensive.

How important is it to keep my class title and time the same?

You might be able to guess this—it's very important. We need to keep class titles and times fixed, especially as the show gets close. Changing them gets complicated. Everyone attendee signed up would have to adjust their schedules. We have to email each person individually, and the old time is already floating around online. We call it “trickle-down-voodoo-economic-schedulemixup”—never mind, you probably don’t remember that.
